Our History

BRP DAGUPAN CITY (LC 551) is a Logistic Ship Vessel (LSV) type of ship presently assigned with the Service Force, Philippine Fleet, and Philippine Navy. She was acquired thru the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Program started in 1987 in coordination with JUSMAG-Philippines.

Moss Point Marine,Inc. Was the designated builder  and her keel was laid in Ascatampa, Mississippi on 01 Jul 92. She was originally christened as BRP CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY but was later re-named BRP DAGUPAN CITY.   On 15 Jan 94, a 30-man sailing crew together with a 14-man US delivery crew sailed from Mississippi to Manila. On 5 April 94, she was commissioned in the PN with LCDR Florante F Dela Cruz PN as her first Commanding Officer.

Throughout the years, she had successfully conducted various naval support and logistics operations from the northernmost part of Luzon down to the southernmost region of Mindanao. She also participated in numerous naval operations at the height of the secessionist movements in Mindanao by providing Naval Logistic Support to Philippine Army and Marine units as well as in supporting logistical requirements of NSWG personnel in the operational areas.

With her outstanding performance she was adjudged as Philippine Navy Service Ship of the Year in 1996, Philippine Fleet Service Ship CY 2009 and 2010 and Service Force Ship of the Year in 1997, 2003, 2008, and 2009.
